The Deepest Blue
The world I knew
is gone forever.
What can I do
to carry on?
I don't know how
to make it better.
What will I do
if hope is gone?
I feel the tears
run down my face
and I don't know
just where to start.
Can't fit the pieces
back in place.
The deepest blue
has filled my heart.
The white dust falls
all around me
The red blood flows
of brothers lost.
The deepest blue
it now surrounds me
And asks me "Who
will bear this cross?"
No ocean deep
could hold this sorrow.
No midnight sky
Could wear this hue.
I bow my head,
pray for tomorrow,
and I cry
the deepest blue
I'm gonna go
and see the preacher
and ask him please
to save my soul
cause if this blue
gets any deeper
my heart will be
as black as coal.
